Typical Jack Russell Disadvantages

If you are thinking of bringing a Jack Russell into your home there are also disadvantages for you to think of.

Jack Russells suffer from the notorious Terrier temprament, which means they can be a little too lively for some people. They are often quick to bark at or chase other animals, and can be bossy, feisty or stubborn. This can sometimes be overcome with good training, but often will never go away. Jack Russell also have budles of energy meaning they must be exercised regularly and vigorously, may display aggression towards other animals and also show signs of built up energy such as digging holes or barking alot.

Other Considerations

If you have small children then a Jack Russell is probably NOT a good idea. This is because they can be very defensive animals and some may not tolerate the usual clumsyness which comes with children . For instance, pulling whiskers, treading on feet or pulling tails may cause some terriers to snap easily.

You must also take into consideration the amount or work and energy that a Jack Russell can take to train and control.
